My children call me D-Money, and they think I can do anything.
When I graduated with a degree in graphic design, I set out to change the world—or at least the way it looked. By applying all those fundamentals I learned in school, I did my part to elevate the sophistication of every client I worked with. And then Apple was invented and changed the whole industry. We all learned together just what those computers could do. We had to think a little faster and turn things around a little more quickly. And then the Internet happened, and the world I set out to change instead changed me.
And now there’s artificial intelligence, and we’re all trying to figure out how to pivot. Will it start to do all the thinking for me? Will I become obsolete? While we can make guesses, no one truly knows how it will all shake out, but I’m confident that there will always be room for the thinkers and the dreamers.
It's a balance between staying true to the fundamentals that make me who I am while always being open to new ideas. I've had the honor and privilege to work with and manage some very talented individuals, and while I was mentoring them, every single one of them taught me something, too. All these experiences have made me better at what I do.
Not to mention that fact that I had a Twitter handle before my kids knew what it was. But then they one-upped me with Snapchat and told me that it's not cool to post more than once a day on Instagram. And now Twitter is X and Tik Tok is taking over.
Yep, always learning...
